The first Chanel handbag was introduced in 1929. While the early models featured a flap, it wasn't until 1955 that Chanel realized the advantages of a bag with straps. From that point on, the design became known and loved as the Classic Double Flap Bag.

With Karl Lagerfeld's influence in the early 80s, the Double Flap Bag received a new look. The understated Mademoiselle lock was replaced with the iconic CC clasp, elevating the Classic Flap Bag to an enduring icon. The hardware is plated with 24K gold, ensuring its lasting durability. The Classic Flap Bag comes in various sizes, available as a Double or Single Flap, although the Single Flap is no longer produced. The lining, once only available in classic burgundy, now comes in various colors, and the bag is offered in many signature materials, including tweed.
