We love: colorful Chanel tweed material mix. Classic Chanel elements with a modern twist
About: The debut of the double flap bag revolutionized fashion history. Until the appearance of the first bag, they were carried in the hand and were unwieldy. The Double Flap Bag was not only a style revolution, but also the first bag with a strap that made it easier to carry. After their debut, carrying a bag over their shoulder soon became a sign of social status for women.
The first Chanel handbag was introduced in 1929. The first models had a flap, but it wasn't until 1955 that Chanel recognized the advantages of a bag with a strap. From then on, the model became known and popular as the classic double flap bag.
With Karl Lagerfeld in the early 80s, the 2.55 gets a new look. The inconspicuous Mademoiselle clasp gives way to the striking CC clasp and makes the Classic Flap Bag an icon. The hardware is 24K gold-plated and particularly durable. Various sizes of the Classic Flap Bag are produced and, depending on the format, it is available as a double or single flap. The single flap is no longer made today. The lining is no longer just classic burgundy, and the bag is available in many colors and signature materials such as tweed.
