The 2.55 was named by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel after the date of its creation: February 1955. For the 50th anniversary, Karl Lagerfeld brought the iconic design back to life. The model can be recognized by its typical multi-row shoulder chain and clasp. The idea for both was inspired by soldiers' uniforms of the 1950s. According to traditional stories, the design for the strap is based on the key chains of the nuns in the convent orphanage where Coco spent her childhood.
